The 2023 NCAA Women’s Basketball Final Four in Dallas, Texas was a sellout, with over 19,000 fans showing up and showing out. The NCAA championship game captured a staggering 9.9 million TV viewers. That’s more than any MLB Finals, and it rivals the most-watched NFL, MLS and NBA Championship telecasts. There is renewed dedication to reflection on the 1972-92 decades that covered Olympic women’s basketball participation for the first time, AIAW to NCAA championship migration for college women athletes – unearthing of photos, records, film and stories from these early eras that should be chronicled for U.S. history.
